Vacation 2/11/12 - St. Maarten

Our last day and it was incredible.  Ana and Steve visited the butterfly farm, while Rex and I hired a GREAT tour guide, JoJunie tours for a day long tour of the island.  We stopped at a small rocky beach where I was introduced to the sea life.  Not really my favorite thing, but interesting.  We visited the area of the island that was built by volcanic eruptions creating spectacular views.  We spent a few hours at the beach playing in the water and eating Caribbean food.   We ended our day at a beach located right next to the airport, and yes that is a real plane coming in for a landing.  It was a great trip and tomorrow morning we disembark and head for home.  Pictures!

Vacation 2/10/12 - St. Kitts

We are spending the day on St. Kitts today.  A very pretty island that has only recently converted to tourism for its main industry.  Ana and Steve spent the day on a catamaran and Rex and I toured the island.  There were monkeys everywhere, it looks as if we all made new monkey friends.  Enjoy the pictures.

Vacation 2/9/12 - St. Lucia

Today we are in St. Lucia, what a beautiful island.  Of course we took a short tour before we headed up to the rainforest for our zipline adventure.  Wow, 2 hours of zipping from one tree platform to the next at the top of the rainforest.  You really should do this if you haven’t already.  We spent the afternoon exploring the area around the dock and sampling the local drink.  They have a great name for the drinking establishments here, rum shops, they are in every neighborhood.  Tonight is formal dinner again, we were a little less formal this time around, but looking good just the same.  Pictures here!

Vacation 2/8/12 - Barbados

Today is Barbados.  We took a tour of the island, played with the wild monkeys (who actually live in the neighborhoods along with the people), visited the oldest church still standing in this hemisphere and took a tour of the Mt Gay Rum factory.  Of course we had to sample the rum, amazing what you can do with sugar cane.  To end the day we visited the midnight buffet for a late night snack.   Click for pictures!

Vacation 2/7/12 - Day at sea

Today was a day at sea.  We explored the ship, tried our luck on the slots machines and just chilled.   The evening dinner was formal, so we got dressed in our best and took a few photos. Love my towel animals, a new one every day. Enjoy the photos!

Vacation 2/6/12 - St. Thomas

We sailed all night and woke up in St Thomas, we took a tour of the island, did some shopping and some drinking.  Made a few new four legged friends and of course bought St. Thomas Rum to take back to the States. Here are the pictures!

Vacation 2/5/12 - Tour Puerto Rico Continued

Our last day on Puerto Rico we started with a morning walk on the beach just a few blocks from our hotel.  We spent the afternoon (nowhere near enough time) in the two centuries old forts and  then boarded the ship.  What an amazing island, definitely a place we will return for a longer visit.  See Pictures!

Vacation 2/4/12 - Tour Puerto Rico

We rented a car and wandered over about 50% of the island.  We visited Arecibo Observatory and drove thru the mountains across the island on the way to Ana’s grandparents region of the island and ended the day on a beach in the Ponce area.  We ate local food, drank local beer and have a great time.  Crazy narrow streets, colorful buildings and beautiful beaches. 

Vacation 2/2 - 2/3 Ft. Lauderdale to Puerto Rico

Off we go to Puerto Rico for a few days before we board our cruise ship to the Virgin Islands.   We flew into San Juan and  immediately started seeing the island.  Our first night we visited a nature preserve where the electric dino flagellates are like little electric currents in the water when stirred.    See Pictures
